Destinations

Anuradhapura, Sigiriya, Polonnaruwa, Kandy

Day 1 – Arrival in Anuradhapura

  • Arrive at Bandaranaike International Airport and transfer to Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka’s ancient capital.
  • Afternoon guided tour of Anuradhapura Sacred City, a UNESCO World Heritage Site featuring ancient stupas, royal palaces, and the famous Sri Maha Bodhi tree, believed to be the oldest historically recorded tree in the world.
  • Evening at leisure to explore the town or rest.

 

Day 2 – Sigiriya & Dambulla Cave Temple

  • Morning transfer to Sigiriya to visit the Sigiriya Rock Fortress, an ancient rock citadel with spectacular views and well-preserved frescoes.
  • Continue to the Dambulla Cave Temple, another UNESCO World Heritage Site, renowned for its stunning Buddhist murals and over 150 statues of Buddha.
  • Overnight stay in Dambulla or Sigiriya area.

Day 3 – Polonnaruwa Ancient City

  • Travel to Polonnaruwa, Sri Lanka’s medieval capital, where you’ll explore the grand ruins of this historic city, including the Royal Palace, Gal Vihara rock temple, and Lotus Pond.
  • Afternoon at leisure, with options to cycle through the ruins or relax by the serene lakeside.
  • Overnight stay in Polonnaruwa.

 

Day 4 – Kandy & Temple of the Tooth

  • Head to Kandy, the last royal capital of Sri Lanka, known for its cultural richness and scenic beauty.
  • Visit the sacred Temple of the Tooth Relic (Sri Dalada Maligawa), which houses the revered tooth relic of Buddha.
  • Attend a traditional Kandyan dance performance, showcasing Sri Lanka’s vibrant cultural heritage.
  • Overnight stay in Kandy.

Day 5 – Departure from Colombo

  • Morning transfer to Colombo for departure, with optional stops at Kandy’s Botanical Gardens or a spice garden along the way, where you can learn about Sri Lanka’s famed spices.
  • Continue to Bandaranaike International Airport for your return flight home, taking with you memories of Sri Lanka’s fascinating cultural heritage.
